Disclaimer : This was not my idea but something which got me thinking. Its relevant to the contemporary havoc thats going on in the Indian Telecom Industry but I can only wish that such a thing would happen :-P
The omnipresent international internet giant Google, who was almost kicked out of China recently for exercising their freedom of expression, could find itself kicked out of India for misusing the democratic system here. Google has been mainly accused of playing the pivotal role in the delay of the implementation of 3G broadband and video call services in India. Reports suggest that Google greased the palms of former Indian communication and information technology minister A. Raja, who was eventually knocked off due to his alleged dealings with local telecom service providers. The main motive behind the whole scam was to give the brains behind Google ample time to popularise their new Mobile operating system “Android” as well as to keep hold on the loyal internet video chat users from moving on to 3G Video calls. Over the past several years Google has come up with various solutions like the Google Wave and other labs features in Gmail which were all washed away by the advent of the 3G telecom services in foreign lands. Now Google is desperate to make sure that it doesn’t lose out on the world’s fastest growing telecom sector. It is believed that Google wasn’t completely successful in buying out the telecom” Raja” and it is reported that the then telecom minister bargained valiantly for the introduction of 3G services in India at least by the public sector service providers like BSNL and MTNL. Google, immediately agreed to this deal for their research had showed that services by BSNL and MTNL would create a negative impact on the very outlook of 3G broadband services. Some revelations in the on-going investigation of the 2G spectrum scam also suggests the involvement of major International Internet giant behind the lobbyist Niira Radia. Although the Indian investigating officers have dismissed these speculative theories as being baseless, an independent investigation conducted by the tehelkha has suggested that the whole 2G scam is nothing more than a framed case to remove the uncompromising Mr A. Raja from his ministerial post. According to fresh reports, Google has managed to pay off Mr Kapil Sibal, the controversial education minister who has taken charge of the vaccant seat of Indian communication and information technology minister. This can be clearly seen in his actions where he has banned specifically the 3G video calling facility of all the private telecom providers citing security reasons when at the same time the public sector companies continue to play monopoly in this sector using the same level of security as the private firms. In the wake of perpetual protests from the opposition parties the government has ordered a CBI inquiry to investigate the whole affair. Subsequently in the press conference held by the CBI officers, they stated that they have met with a dead end in their investigating process and are waiting for fresh technological improvements like video calling handsets etc. from Google to find a way around their problem.
